New 350,000 sf recycled paper manufacturing plant in Ohio. The facility is comprised of multi-story structural steel framing with concrete floors. Two 65-metric ton cranes spanning 85ft service the Paper Machine Hall and a 15-metric ton crane spanning 117ft services Stock Prep. The Paper machine is supported by a massive elevated cast-in-place concrete structure. AFJMc worked with the machine manufacturer to incorporate their machine finite element analysis model into AFJMc’s structural foundation model to analyze the harmonic properties of the machine/foundation system. AFJMc worked with teams in Ohio, Georgia, Austria and Finland to complete the design. Drawings were produced in Revit Structure which allowed coordination across the multi-discipline teams in 3D format. Design was 95% complete within 4.5 months with structural steel erection beginning within 5 months of design kick-off.
