A fast-track, design/build, project to replace the existing, original 1968 press box and 1984 skybox addition at Louisiana Tech’s Joe Aillet Stadium. The existing facilities were demolished upon completion of the 2016 football season. The new, enlarged pressbox and skyboxes are to be complete and ready for use at the start of the 2017 football season. The new space consists of 3-levels supporting television/ radio broadcasts and writing press needs, skybox suite and event spaces, as well as new broadcast camera deck areas. New MEP systems utilizing VRF technology for HVAC, new fire pump in support of the fire suppression system, LED lighting and new power distribution with on-site standby generator are included. Additionally, the project scope includes a complete replacement of the existing stadium/field lighting systems with a new LED sports lighting system, utilizing full dimming/theatrical control, designed to NCAA national TV broadcast standards. The structural scope of design utilized select existing foundation components from the original facility to realize cost and schedule efficiency. The structure is steel-framed with expansive cantilevers and utilizes precast elevator and stair towers for lateral resistance.
