The new 35,000-sf fine arts building at Brook Hill School in Bullard, TX includes a 700-seat auditorium/chapel and specialized classrooms for vocal, instrumental, dramatic, and visual arts instruction. The structural system is composed of structural steel with long-span joists over the auditorium. A fly grid for theatrical rigging spans over the stage area using a grid of structural steel beams. Electrical systems include LED lighting and dimmable lighting control with vacancy sensing for individual spaces and time clock based control for common areas. Extensive coordination with the electrical utility was necessary for the relocation of existing campus electrical primary distribution and pad-mount transformers. Coordination with A/V/L consultant for power and raceway infrastructure in support of audio, video, theatrical lighting and controls, data/communications and security systems equipment. Mechanical equipment utilized gas-fired packaged rooftop DX systems. Selection of equipment and design of air distribution ductwork was coordinated with the A/V/L consultant to meet acoustic requirements for noise control.
Smaller renovations and additions were included as part of the overall project including finish and lighting updates to the lower school library, a four classroom addition to the existing Ornelas Hall building as well as new tennis courts with tennis court lighting.
